Promo spots

animation

One of my duties as a broadcast designer at MGFX was to create marketing content for our news stations.  A popular request for marketing producers was to create commercial spots for local clients, or promo spots for TSRs (Targeted Special Reports), which were very exciting!  The producer would provide me with the copy, duration, audio, and sometimes a storyboard.  The kinetic typography ones were my favorite, as I had free reign in terms of typeface and overall aesthetic.

To meet the fast deadlines, which would be anywhere from 3 days to a week, I would lay out the text and imagery as separate layers in Adobe Illustrator, then import the Illustrator file into Adobe After Effects, which streamlined the animation process. After the animation was approved and delivered, the producer would composite it with music and other video, and then deliver the completed promo to the client.  Through working on these projects, I developed a deep appreciation for typography and layout. I plan to continue developing these skills!
