sandmaker Twitch graphics

branding, design

Twitch is a live streaming platform for gamers, where users can watch other people playing games, interact with other viewers, or live stream their own gameplay to the world. One thing that separates one Twitch streamer from another is their production value. To make sure your stream and community stand out, Twitch streamers make sure they have a high quality camera/audio setup, a powerful gaming rig, and you guessed it…..top-notch graphics.

I partnered with my good friend, who goes by the name Sandmaker, to rebrand his Twitch channel. Sandmaker primarily streams World of Warcraft, but to be sure he doesn’t shoe-horn himself into one game or genre, he wanted to make sure his graphics were universal. Since he calls his community “The Sandbox”, I came up with the concept to make his logo look like a sleek, esports logo with a sandcastle.

sub badges

When a user subscribes to a Twitch streamer, a tiny badge shows up next to the username in the chatbox. Users are more inclined to stay subscribed if they enjoy the streamers content, and if the community is warm and welcoming. Sub Badges tend to show some type of visual progression or growth, in this case, I thought it would’ve been clever if the badges represented a sand castle being built. As the subscriber grows their streak, so does their sand castle.

Webcam overlay

We went with a thin, minimal overlay for Sandmaker, highlighting recent followers and subscribers. We have it positioned in the corner to make sure the camera isn’t blocking any important game elements.
